   4-WHEEL FREEDOM: THE ART OF OFF-ROAD DRIVING started off as a book aimed at the average sport-utility vehicle family, designed to get people interested in ecologically-oriented off-road recreation. However, it soon expanded into a valuable manual for the experienced off-road recreational enthusiast as well.
 
The author's rigs evolved, too, from the almost stock vehicles described in 4-WHEEL FREEDOM, to more highly modified vehicles suitable for use on rougher backcountry terrain.
